The Niagara Street Project

Safer, easier, economical – Metro’s Niagara St. Project is 150 years of public transportation experience, combined with 21st century technology, to make the bus the best way to travel one of Buffalo’s most vital and vibrant corridors.

About the Project

The Niagara St. Project is aimed at making public transportation more usable, more reliable and more efficient for every rider. It brings modern design and new technology to an established, culturally rich section of the city. The Project comprises buses with traffic signal prioritization, shelters with real-time bus information, a new transit center and a streamlined plan to take advantage of all the improvements.

Funding comes from a Federal Transportation Administration Livability grant, along with assistance from New York State.  The project coincides with the City of Buffalo’s revitalization of the cooridor.
